General Election, November 3, 2020

FL Statutes: 101.5612, 101.68, 101.572

The Canvassing Board of Charlotte County will convene pursuant to Florida Statute 101.5612, Testing of Tabulating Equipment. The equipment which will be used for the 2020 General Election will be tested on Monday, October 12th, 2020 at 9:00 AM, beginning at the Elections Warehouse, 25510 Airport Road, Punta Gorda, and from there will continue at the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 226 Taylor Street in Punta Gorda. The election will be held on November 3rd, 2020.
The Charlotte County Canvassing Board will convene pursuant to Florida Statutes 101.68, Tuesday, October 20th, 2020 at 9:00 am, October 26th at 9:00 am, October 30th, at 9:00 am November 2nd, at 9:00 am and November 3rd at 1:00 pm to canvass the Vote By Mail ballots for the General Election.They will meet at the Supervisor of Elections office, 226 Taylor Street, Punta Gorda.
The Canvassing Board will meet on November 5th, 2020 at 5:00 pm to canvass Provisional Ballots, Signature Cure Affidavits and certify the Unofficial Results. The Canvassing Board will meet again on November 13th, 2020 to canvass any Overseas Ballots, certify the Official Results, file the Conduct of Elections and randomly select a race and precinct in preparation of an Audit. On November 20th at 9:00 am, the Canvassing Board will meet to perform the Audit.

In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, the above meetings will be open to the public.

NOTE:Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, states that if a person decides to appeal any decision by a board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
